Welcome to Tower View Primary School we hope you enjoy reading about us and perhaps understanding the great journey we are currently on. The school was placed into Special Measures in 2011 and has been through some troubling times; however this is a changing school and an improving school. We have much to be very proud of not least our spectacular children who are a credit to us. The staff are working tirelessly to improve the school and make it a school that the community can be proud of too.
At the school we endeavour to get children to participate in, develop and enjoy their education whilst recognising every child is that special person; all the teachers are highly motivated and skilled in delivering good quality lessons that targets both the individual and groups of children. We have tried to increasingly involve parents and the wider society into our normal school life and encourage their input.
Our latest Ofsted Report is available from the Ofsted Website and shows that the school is now out of SPECIAL MEASURES and well on it way to being a GOOD school. We have some excellent teachers who are all striving to ove the school forward and the following comments show how well we are doing.
Pupils love coming to school and attendance is above average. They behave exceptionally well and take great interest in learning. They show concern for one another, and feel safe in school.
Attainment in Key Stage 2 has improved in reading and mathematics but not enough in writing. Pupils’ progress has been good in reading and mathematics but not as fast as it should be in writing. Last year the proportions of pupils making expected progress in reading, writing and mathematics compared favourably with national figures. The proportion of pupils making faster progress than expected was similar to that found nationally in reading and was higher than nationally in mathematics.
In the best lessons, pupils are excited about their learning and there is a ‘buzz’ as they extend their knowledge and skills. Pupils enjoy using tablet computers in their classroom and report that it really enables them to develop their research skills and think for themselves.
Please continue to look through our site and if you do want to visit the school and discuss any issues then do contact the school office.
